I am completely stunned that there is a restaurant here in Atlanta that serves jamon iberico. Nice stuff, too, not the 3-euro packs you get at M.A.S. or something. And they had pulpo a la feira. And carrilladas (okay, they were in a taco, but who cares?). And lomo. And solomillo. And albondigas. I’m pretty thrilled.
I wish that there was a market in the US for non-fusion Spanish food. Even this place was pretty fusiony, despite being completely delicious and relying mostly on actual import ingredients. The Iberian Pig is by far the best Spanish food I have ever had in the US—as a general rule, Spanish restaurants here are pretty terrible. Usually when you find a tapas place here, it’s got bewildering decor out front (Don Quixote! Aztec gods! Toros!) and when you get inside it’s just jalapeno poppers and calamari in little dishes. It’s like going to Hooters except less sexist and more racist.
